Classwork

Children will be continuing to use the Accelerated Reading scheme.  Once the children have chosen and read a book, they will complete an online quiz to check their understanding of the book.  Children are given daily reading time in class and are expected to be reading at home for a minimum of 20 minutes daily.

Times tables are a crucial part of maths in Year 5 and therefore we expect the children to have a solid knowledge of all times tables facts.  To help with this, all children have an account on Times Table Rockstars - a fun website which questions children on their fact recall.  

Homework will be issued weekly.  Most commonly, homework will need to be completed electronically by the children.  We have a drop in homework session on a Thursday lunchtime for any children who would like to take advantage of help from an adult or use an iPad or laptop to complete their homework.

P.E. is taught on Mondays and some children will also attend swimming lessons on Tuesdays through the school year.  Please ensure that your child has a full P.E. kit in school at all times (this includes pumps for gymnastics).
